Difficulty very hard with 4 players

Post by Achti »

Is this the normal difficulty? The first time we played it, we had zero chance, so i played a few solo runs to understand the game. Solo runs were managable in difficulty, but very dependent on chance. Some bad spawns or bad equipments in the first few round and you could just restart. But i also won a couple of runs with ease.

Then we tried again with 4 players, focusing getting as many equipments and abilities as fast as possible. And we managed to get to round 10, with lots of equipments but it still seems so impossible. Even with all the abilities, there are just way to many enemies spawning. Even with perfect dice rolls this would be far from beatable with just 2 actions. And we even played without monster dice, which makes it easier in my understanding.

I never played the physical game so i am not sure if this is the same. But an easy mode to learn the game would be great, right now my group does not want to try again since it seemed not even close to beatable with 4 players.

In the physical game the difficulty escalates with each player. Player number dictates how many monster cards get drawn each round. The game is expecting you to be very well coordinated when you're playing with 4 players and the difficulty scales accordingly.

If you look at the rulebook on the main page it might contain rules for bringing down the difficulty but from memory I don't think it does. The game is designed to be difficult and I agree it's brutal but it is by design.
