Why so many French players?

Just an observation that like half of the top players are French. Is Odin the most popular game in France? Is it just widely available at board game stores there?

The game won As d'or, the biggest award in France, given to a game that pleases all categories of people.

I learned about it from some French tourists here who were just playing it on the commuter rail

Haha it really is great --- I get to practice my French all the time. Unless, of course, their motivation for practicing English is greater than mine for French! (Or perhaps my French is so terrible that they must give me a way out to preserve my dignity...)

Though, pray tell, were these tourists playing the physical cards or just on BGA? I presume it is the latter, but the former creates such a delightful image, I must inquire!
