When are bonus actions triggerd?

Post by cigma »

The rulebook says: "Earn bonus actions or bonus terrain by spotting specific types of geese in your flock!" I am not sure what this means in the gameplay. I would guess you can trigger bonus actions only when you play that card, but unfortunately the rules don't say so. Can someone help?

You need to be able to Identify 2 or 3 of that card's goose type, meaning there are at least that many in your flock, counting the one you just played.

Here is an example that demonstrates bonus actions and a few other potentially confusing moves:
Image

1. On this turn, I play the Juvenile White on the bottom right.
2. Its base action, Lead, triggers the action on the Adult White goose at the front of my flock, which allows me Fly and move my token forward on the flight path.
3. Since I have the required 3 Juvenile White geese in my flock, I can now choose to either Fly or Navigate as a bonus action. This completes my turn.

As an additional note, notice how there are not enough Juvenile Blue geese to trigger the bonus terrains on my Juvenile Blue. However, if I play another Juvenile Blue on my next turn, those bonus terrains will be activated. Let's say I play one with the Fly action and use my bottom row of geese to advance; I will be able to move forward 1 mountain space with my Adult White and 2 mountain spaces with my Juvenile Blue, as well as 1 space according to the terrain --- if one is indicated--- on my new Juvenile Blue.
