That looks like what happened to me the other day. Someone times out, it then asks you if you'd like to quit without penalty then when you quit your time continues to countdown and you get a time penalty too.

It also messes up the rest of your turn based games as well. The 'go to next table' button would always take me to the abandoned game because the timer was still ticking down. Which means you have to open the lobbies of all the other games you're playing to see if it's your turn.

The only way I got the game to end was message the remaining player left in the game and ask him to quit. The game finally ended then. I suggest you do that.

But this needs looking at. It's put me off starting any more turn based games until it's fixed.

Hi,

I was afraid of this situation and I checked but everything is "fine", ie the "go to next game" button does not send senatorhug to this game (and no one else will).

This game is going to be automatically removed after some time without playing, and no one is going to get a penalty except the player who left the game.

If something goes wrong - on this table on on another - please report a bug and it's going to be fixed. I may be wrong but I don't see any real blocking situation anywhere at now.

In this game, Taylor106 timed out first. When I quit, my timer continued counting down and I got a time penalty. There was nothing I could do to stop the timer.

The strange thing about it, I got the penalty while it was still counting, before the game was officially over. My timer was -2 days when I messaged the last remaining player to quit, then the game finally ended.

Something went wrong. The timer should stop and then the game should move onto the next player after it asks if you want to quit and you agree.

Hello,

Some words of explanation :
  • When a player leave a game, his/her turns are skipped.
  • The "skipping turn" is not always some easy things to develop. On some context, this is really complex.
  • That's why we do not require developers to develop every "skip turn" possibility.
  • It means that the "skip turn" function fails sometimes. This is not "normal", but it is not that important (the game is over anyway). That's why we advise you to leave the game, and you managed to leave the game.
That said, I'm going to make sure :
  • That this game is no more listed in your "game in progress" (note that you are not redirected to this table when you click on "go to next table", which is the most important things).
  • That you don't receive a time penalty for this game.
... The best option here would probably be to abandon the whole game as this is impossible to recover.

sourisdudesert, thanks for the explanation.

i was in the same game as senatorhung.
When one player left and finally the game hung i choosed to quit with the option:
" You may continue to play if you like, or quit this game without any penalty."
The game is also stil on my game-list.

Same situation in this game; also Bombay:

Pro tip : Actually when you click on
http://boardgamearena.com/?use_custom_style=0
in your CSS preferences, it will only deactivate it temporarily, but you won't loose your settings.
So, you click on it, then go to report your bug, and the next time you'll log in, you'll get your customization back for free.

But yeah, it's still annoying to have to do this every time you need to access the bug tracker.

Hi,

Here is what have been changed : now, when there is an error during a "skip turn" in turn based mode, the game is automatically abandoned. This way, there is no need to wait the other players to leave the game. In real-time, everyone has to leave the game explicitly like it is today.

This won't work for current table like this Bombay table (that will be removed after some time), but for future table this will.

I will also remove such tables from "games in progress" .
