There's 4 kinds of yaku of ribbons, but it's too easy to make one after another. So I suggest a little change which follow the main site of "nintendo" rule:

Ribbons: Scored by default.

Blue Poems, Red Poems: Scored by default, but +1 ribbon will gain 1p more.

Dueling Triads: Scored 12p(or 15p for bonus 3p), and +1 ribbon will gain 1p more like it used to be.

POINT: They should be mutually exclusive.

Thanks for the links. I didn't find where it says that those yaku are exclusive in this version of the rules (did I miss it?), but I suppose it makes sense with the +1 thing.

But in fact, the difference between these two ways to handle the yaku is not very big. For example:

- non exclusive: blue poems + 2 ribbons is 6 + 1 = 7
- exclusive : blue poems + 2 ribbons is 5 + 1 + 1 = 7

- non exclusive : Dueling Triads + 1 ribbon = 6 + 6 + 6 + 3 (blue poems + red poems + dueling triads + 7 ribbons) = 21
- exclusive : Dueling Triads + 1 poem = 12 + 1 = 13 (or 15 + 1 = 16 with your suggested 3p bonus)

So for blue poems / red poems it amounts to the same thing.
For dueling triads, the current version gives more points. It is very difficult to get all the poems, so I think it's worth a nice reward, but maybe it's too much (after all, 5 bright is worth only 10 points). Maybe remove dueling triads altogether (so the example above would become 6 + 6 + 3 = 15) or make the points for special ribbons yaku 5 instead of 6 (so the example above would become 5 + 5 + 5 + 3 = 18).

Anyway, did anyone manage to get the dueling triads yet? I didn't

Thanks for replying, the motive of raise this issue is because I won 21p by 7 ribbons in #19026282 #167, I think it's really too much @@

If using suggested way, it will be 16 the best :)

This game seems to be nice and fun pastime. It also reminds me of Mahjong a bit, and I hope someone creates Mahjong here on bga one day.

This is brilliant! I actually bought a set of hanafuda cards from Kelsey Cretcher a number of years ago, so the artwork is very familiar to me!
