Hearts (Game Rules)

BGA STATES: When one or more platers reach zero the game ends.The player with the highest score wins.Thats simplet hen why are players playing for second or elo points.Confused Please Help.

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking. It sounds like you're meaning the other players keep playing to determine 2nd, 3rd, etc. They don't. The other place settings are determine at the time the game ends, and those are used to determine ELO, since 2nd place is losing to one person but beating two other people, etc. (But any multi-player game should do that. That's nothing special about Hearts.)

Intrepid is questioning the ELO system. In his opinion player 1 should beat the other 3 without a further distinction so that it doesn't matter for ELO wether you become 2nd, 3rd or 4th.

If you change the ELO-system in that way, players would use different tactics which intrepid thinks is in the spirit of this particular game (hearts) and more fun to play with.

That's typical of a site like this. Yucata does it too.

I still don't think this is anything special to Hearts. While there is technically just a winner, a lot of people think in all games that you either win or lose, and pay no attention to place settings. And indeed, most rules only talk about who wins, not who comes in 2nd, 3rd, etc. But when skill points are applied, then the place settings are looked at as well. So this is pretty much true of all games, or at least most of them.

Thankyou for your reply.So let me understand,Is skill level related to your ELO System.If it is.BGA IS TELLING ME TO STRATEGIZE PLAYING FOR 2ND 3RD OR 4TH because Wins are a factor but not as important as ELO.sORRY THIS IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH 75 PERCENT OF hEARTS gAMES.BGA is Technically rewriting the Games original Intent.Again WHY is it so hard to Say (1 wins and the Rest Lose..Personally ive lost more than most .P.S Keep up the good Work.
