How did I run out of time

Post by ryoshida »

I joined the Race for the Galaxy • RFTG Gathering Storm RR Round 2 tournament and was playing all of my games. I went in multiple times a day and played all of the games in my queue for which it was my turn. Today I found out that I was declared out of time in game: Race for the Galaxy #21552934. If it was my turn to play, it should have shown up in my list of games where it was my turn. What is going on with this mechanism? One of the other games showed the other play being out of time, but I ignored it and finished the game and lost. I am ok with that. What I am not ok with is being penalized in my ELO and in the tournament for not playing a turn of which I was not informed of.

I checked and we sent you this email :

29/05 23:08:02 [info] To: y**********@gmail.com
Subject: [Board Game Arena] Race for the Galaxy #21552934: you are running out of time!
Content (en):
You are running out of time on BGA table Race for the Galaxy #21552934.

If you are not playing, your turn will be skipped and you will get a time penalty.

Click here to play now :

Note : the time allotted for this tournament is way too small : 5 days per player (with draft mode!) requires A LOT of moves per day. Unfortunately we have no way to automatically check all the tournament configurations, so this is the responsibility of the tournament creator and the responsibility of the players who join the tournament to check that the configuration is fine.

You might have sent me an email (I did not access my email for a couple of days), but since I was playing multiple games from that tournament among others I expected to see it show up in the list of games that were awaiting my turn. It did not which is why I timed out and why I am asking if there is a bug in the system. It has now done this to me on several games and lowered my ELO which takes away a lot of the fun on this website and makes me not want to participate in tournaments.

Hello,

I checked and everything looks fine on the log. Your opponent played a move on May 29th at 9:46 CEST and was correctly registered on game server. At 23:58 you've time was over, and on May 30th 9:00 CEST your opponent expelled you.

If you encounter this error again, please take a screenshot so I can see what happened exactly.
