I like the modern look. The logo ehhh. Sort of looks like a deformed ball sack. Peyo61 posted something a bit nicer

Honestly? I'm shocked in unplesant way. Hope you are not serious, this new logo is just...faceless. Like some poor exuce of cloud servise or something. Sorry.

I'll chime in and say, two things.

First, I like the new logo! At first glance I didn't love it, but I'm already warming up to it a bit. I think any time any company changes a logo there's a big outcry as people are used to the old logo (see: instagram, Uber, Google, etc.).

Second, it does look a bit out of place to just slap the logo on the old design of the rest of the site. I look forward to seeing the other interface updates in the coming months.

Thanks for continuing to work so hard on the site!

Personally, I preferred the old logo—I thought the connect between primary colours and the typical colours used to identify players in board games was nice, whereas the teal-to-purple shading seems too vague for me.

I don't hate the new logo though, so I'm hoping/expecting that it will grow on me.

Since everyone wants to talk about the logo, I'll toss that in first. I hated the old one anyway. People are guessing as to what the new one is supposed to be, but I think that in itself says something. If it's supposed to represent something, seems it ought to be more obvious. I thought it was a cloud. I do like Pierre's design better. The re-try on that with the black background I do not like at all.

That said, I could care less about the logo, and wouldn't say I "dislike" it. I just like Pierre's better. (Assuming it's supposed to be 4 heads at a table. Now, if it's really a cloud, it's fine as is.)

Something no one has brought up is the whole color scheme and how it will affect the site. Light blue. The menu is light blue, on a light background. Which is difficult to read. The menu is bigger so not as bad, and I pretty much know what's where. But if the whole site starts with the light blue thing, on a light background, there are going to be things that become difficult to read.

"Modern" seems to be all about lots of wasted white space, and light-ish print colors that can't be read (light grey is popular and also difficult to read). That doesn't mean making bright colors - it means distinct colors, i.e. black or something very dark, on white or preferably something else very light. (Just not red - that's hard on the eyes.) (I do appreciate that the background of the menu is not white - it almost looks like an extremely pale blue. White is harsh.) Maybe this is all fine and hunky dory to the younger crowd, but it's basically dismissing anyone over 40/45 who is going to have more difficulty reading things and whose eyes are more sensitive to things. (Young eyes are sensitive to things as well; they just don't know it yet.)

I wouldn't say I'm looking forward to the changes, mostly because the more "modern" changes I've seen over the past few years, on many sites (like, er, BGG), is a design I don't like as stated above. And inevitable something "cool" gets added that just makes it slower. If someone wants to change something, that's what they're going to do. But please don't design something just "because you can." Make it practical. If I'm here, I'm either playing games or on the forums, and I just want to be able to use it and read it.

Not a fan of the logo. Wasn't a fan of the old one, but this is a step back, not forward. However, the added color another poster made works very well. Without them, it is an iridescent cloud.

Anyway, any chance of making it so I don't have to log in (nearly) every time I visit??
Especially since it shows "you have no games in progress" instead of "you are not logged in"

While updates are a good idea, and things usually need continued improvement... I have to agree with most people posting here that the new logo looks like a cloud, not like a group of players. Even knowing it was a board game website I had no clue what that logo was supposed to represent until I read the interview.
