Underrated games?

Thanks for starting an interesting discussion.
I just discovered Amyitis recently and really like it. I am surprised it does not have better reputation as it has quite a lot of depth and player interaction (i.e. everything is visible so you can always anticipate what your opponents are going to do and try to screw their plans while achieving your own). I wish there were more players around to play it as this game does not get a lot of love. I have not managed to do a 3p game for exemple although all the good players tell me it is the best way to play it.

I have just started Assyria too and it looks very promising.

With regards to unexpected depth and replayability, Hanabi is amazing but again i don't think it would fall into the underrated category.

Yeah I think 3P is the best way to play Amyitis. I suspect the game would get more love if it had a less weird name and a more visually appealing board.... I suspect that one reason Tzolkin and Caylus get way more players is because they are much nicer to look at. I'd really love to snag a physical copy of Amyitis (and also the expansion) because I feel it's way more replayable than either of those two games, because the randomized offering of characters for hire every turn guarantees that the game isn't always the same. (It operates a bit like the array of 7 action cards every turn in In the Year of the Dragon.)

I really love Hanabi but finding people to play it with here who aren't either jerks or clueless is a bit tricky. The online version is more pleasant than the real life game because the colours of the cards are more distinct--it's super hard to distinguish blue and green, and yellow and white, in the actual cardgame.
