come on guys! give them some credit: Just imagine the joy these cheaters have given to all of us, honest players, when we realized that we can easily beat a player with 2000 ELO points.

accounts if people are not playing rated games. There are some legitimate reasons to play against yourself
a) To learn a new game. Even with real board games I have to play against myself to learn the game
b) To test a game (For developers)

1) What he/she said.

2) My kid are on the site. We play together. We all have the same IP and often the same browser headers because we have to hot-seat our turns (more people than computers.)

When should we expect our accounts to get nuked?

Just adding another voice as someone who plays with roommates/significant others on the same IP frequently and is concerned.

Should we always just make sure ELO is turned off when we play to prevent being flagged?
The IP address flag is to notify other players you are playing against, since hypothetically you could easily collude with one another to help each other win.

My wife also plays as well, usually if we are playing a game together, it is with players that we've played with before that trust that we are playing honestly. As far as playing against each other, as long as one of you doesn't continually beat the other (which I don't recommend if you are married ;) ), then it wouldn't draw the same attention of those who are gaming the system.

Yeah, there's just something strange about people that having a high ranking is so important as to waste that kind of time. I mostly just feel sorry for them and figure they have nothing else in life that makes them feel good if they have to fabricate it. And I always question whether they're actually proud of that achievement. I mean, any of us could do that - it's not like it's some great talent to win against yourself all the time.

I do wish I'd known I could use a second account to play unranked games for learning purposes. I've been doing that on Yucata for a long time cause it's hard to learn rules without having an actual game in front of you. I just always thought that was prohibited here.

I am grateful that not only the admins but the vast majority of players care about this.

How do you determine who is playing against themselves vs multiple people at the same location using wifi and having the same IP address? My boyfriend and I play games that way and always get little warning messages....
