Hi guys,
So I was playing this tournament game and was matched against this opponent. He kept making moves late in the night(according to the tournament timezone) as a result I started to run out of time. Towards the end, I requested him on game chat to set a time of his choosing at which I would make myself available and finish the game. He didn't respond. I was close to running out of time. I observed that he wouldn't make his move when both he and I were online and would wait till an hour or so after I had gone offline. When I caught on to that he resumed his pattern of late night moves. It came to such that I set up late late night alarms just to check if he had played. I managed to stretch my last 1 hour of time into 4 moves, waking up at 3:30 or 4am to make my moves. However, as was inevitable, I ran out of time. He let the game continue till he thought he was winning. As soon as I made my result altering move, he skipped my turns and expelled me from the game.
I know he is well within his rights to do so, but this isn't sporting, in fact I would say its downright unethical.
The question, I have, is - What can I do about this? I reported the player, but no-one will probably look at that feedback(it mentions its the lowest priority category of reporting)
I tried posting on the player page or the tournament page or the game result page - however as it turns out I need 80% rating to do that. Irony of ironies, I dropped below 80% due to this very game.
I have red thumbed him to ensure that I never play against him, but I really think there should be some mechanism wherein I can warn other players about how he "games" the system.
Will appreciate any advice. I know I have to move on, but its really frustrating.
Thanks for reading.
