don't want to play YET

Post by Bakersboy »

I believe, last time I checked, that if you turn down a request to play a particular game it removes it from your game preference list.

You then have to reinstate it back into your list.

Is this still the case?

If so, I think this needs amending because there are times when I don't want to play a game at that particular time but don't want it removed permanently from my list of preferred games.

Can this be changed if possible if not already done?

As far as I know, this is still the case. I would like to see something done with this. It's even worse for those of use doing turn-based, because putting those in my list is the only way to have those games pulled to the top of the list, and for turn-based I don't care as much what I want to play in the immediate. Having that list there makes extra scrolling to get to the invites (and will just get worse as I learn more games), and I constantly am getting people bugging me to play that game, despite that I'm not doing live. (I wish that could just be turned off, period!)

I think there ought to be a way to have a set of games you know and like that is separate from what you happen to want to play right now. And that list could be smallish if they didn't have the thumbnails.

This happened to me recently and I wondered what had happened to my games list. Had to add the games back in.

I don't want to be rude and ignore people's invites but it is a bit annoying to have to add games back in when you refuse an invite.

Perhaps have an "open for invites" option for each game.

You don't really need to "refuse" an invite, and in fact that's not technically what you are doing. It's a bit of a misnomer, because the "I don't want to play this right now" (or whatever it says) merely takes the game out of your list. They've changed the look of the invite a bit so not quite sure how this works now, but I don't think the table admin is necessarily picking you out for a personal invite, but more like just generically picking random people to try to get someone else on the game. And I don't think saying you don't "want to play right now" is sending any sort of message to the table admin. I just takes the game off your list. So I don't feel that you really need to "turn down" their invite. I just learned to ignore those. (And I really do wish we could opt out of that.)

Oh, I thought that was how it worked.
I get a "you have been invited to..." message and I can refuse with "I don't want to play now".
I thought the invite saved you a place at the table (possibly meaning others couldn't join if table is full) until you either joined or refused.

But yeah, maybe just going to ignore those from now on (not that I get that many, anyway - and not that I'm compaining about that either)

Wish I'd seen this sooner. My visits to the forum tend to come in spurts. I think we may be talking about two different things. There's a "suggestion" and there's an "invitation" but OP called it a "request" so I went by context of what else was said.

I'm fairly sure OP is talking about the "suggestion" that you play the game, that comes up on the chat thing. If you click the thing saying you don't want to, it pulls that game from your list of games you want to play. A personal invitation is a different thing. I'm pretty sure declining one of those doesn't pull it out of your list. I declined one recently and the game is still in my list. So OP has to be talking about the suggestion thing in the chat.

I'm just not sure if that's what you're talking about. A personal invitation is a totally different thing and you'll get a different type of message. That will have an actual Decline button on it. Now that you should decline if you don't want to play. But that doesn't take the game from your list. The games must be disappearing because you turned down a suggestion, not an invite.
