Should mods delete topics?

Post by xxerox »

Should the moderators delete topics that they don't like?

This is a serious discussion topic.

There is no reason to delete it.

Again, i ask, Should moderators delete any topic that is against them or they don't like it ? Is this proper behaviour?

I personally think they should never delete a topic.

Especially topics that are about the broken system (red thumbs,Karma , reports etc.)

I think we all should have a voice in the matters :) People come here just for the games. There aren't that many on the forums. Most players just come here for a day then leave for a month or so.

So, honestly, not many people even voice themselves xD But i think moderators should not deny their rights to speak.

I think, the mods need to have the right to block topics, if
- the author of a posting uses hate words or abusive language,
- there is some dicussion about cheating or bad game play using clear usernames. Such thinks need to be submitted to the admins by private message (including table number), but not discussed in the public.
- there is some posting containig advertisement.

Whoever owns the forum can curate the discussions however they please, and for whatever reason they please. They have a community and a business to run, and they don't have to answer to the members.

You are describing totalitarism. Do you really want them to drive away players by doing whatever they want?

It isn't totalitarism, it is capitalism. You are welcome to host your own website, and develop your own applications (and be prepared for any legal challenges). You are free to leave.

Now, that being said, BGA appears to want to keep its members and attract new ones. So, they must tailor their approach to those ends. Many people seem to prefer forums that do not involve flame wars, so they are removing those topics.

Remember, freedom of speech [which, by the way, you don't have -- read the agreement you agreed to follow when you signed up for the forums] does not mean freedom of audience. Also, digital communication follows the rules of other communications. If the posts that were deleted were submitted to the local newspaper as letters to the editor, would they get published?

You act like you want flame war.

You are living in a made up world with made up rules.

The reallity is that the people matter, and they have voice.

Every site it is their own small town. And you mister, are the town drunk.

Also, if you insist on applying a title to me, please be accurate. I am a fool, not a drunk.

Yes, people matter. Yes, they have a voice. People also have eyes and ears, and can choose to be in places where certain behavior that they deem offensive is not tolerated. If I find a place where speech that I find offensive is not tolerated, I may stay (assuming that I meet the qualifications of staying). If you find that this place is too restrictive, you may leave.

So people can be offencive here and get away with it ? This place is not too restrictive.. it is the opposite. It allows players to do whatever they want unpunished even to harrass others. They put ideals on piedestal , and whoever goes against those ideals is considered bad seed, and all the rules suddenly apply to them.

Obviously, we don't allow player to do whatever they want.

xxerox, you've been agressive and used bad words in this forum against Jest Phulin, so you've just been moderated. This is the last warning before ban. I'm obviously closing all related threads in the forum. Again, feel free to leave this service if you disagree with its policy. Thanks.
