Frustrating 'quits' the game

Post by Call me Ishmael »

Too often, I join a game and for no reason the table administrator kicks me. In almost every case, the table administrator does not know me and is using this discourteous method to reserve spaces at the table for his friends, instead of using the proper method.

To add further insult to injury, Board Game Arena displays merely, "Call Me Ishmael" quits the game. Sometimes other players ask me, Why did you join then quit the game?

I think it's time that table administrators took responsibility for their (usually rude and uncalled for) actions of kicking other players for no reason. It's time that the Board Game Arena interface showed the truth and displayed, "tableadminname kicked Call Me Ishmael" so that the table administrator cannot hide his actions from the other players.

Agree too. Maybe the Karma could count this unfair behaviour!

I'd leave karma out of it (or open up a new can of worms with Lobby Karma vs Game Karma), but I do agree that the statements shown to other players should be accurate as to who initiated the leaving.

I agree with replacing the log by "XXX kicks YYY out of the table" or something like that, to be more accurate.

But I strongly disagree with kicking players out of a lobby having an effect on Karma or giving the possibility to retaliate by Red-Thumbing.
A table host should be free to kick whoever he wants to without consequences other than the display of "XXX kicks YYY" in the chat log.

Why not? Red thumb is needed for sure that you will never play against someone. If someone kicks you, is not it the case?

Red thumbs were meant for global poor gaming behavior, to warn others to be wary of playing with them. To remind yourself to never join their table, a personal note about that player (which will be displayed to you whenever you view them at a table) is more appropriate.

You are wrong.

Also when you giving red thumb to someone now you should decide to make it private or public; public should have a good reason, but private you can give to any player with whom you played recently.

I will concede that, for private red thumbs. I guess I was only thinking of public red thumbs.
