I think freind request system here is kinda strange. Why not make it like on facebook? Because now when you add as a friend someone or someone add you, nobody knows about that.

Re: Friends request
Hi.
Yes, at now this is more a "follow" than a "friend", because we thought it would be useful to "follow" someone.
Any other opinions on the subject? Should we turn the current feature into a standard "friend" or should we keep a "follow style" like today ?

Can you tell more how it works today and when to follow someone can be useful?sourisdudesert wrote: Yes, at now this is more a "follow" than a "friend", because we thought it would be useful to "follow" someone.

Re: Friends request
Well, basically today it works like Twitter.
Moony Raven would like to make it work like Facebook.

Re: Friends request
I can see three possible usages of the current friend list:
As I said, because I want to avoid too many notifications, I keep very few people in my current friend list. It happens that I feel uncomfortable not to add someone whom I appreciate and who added me to his own list.
Sorry, I'm not familiar with Facebook
, I have no idea of what "make it like on Facebook" would imply
- you are notified whenever one of your friend logs in/out, which is convenient if he/she is someone you like playing live with (even in a turn-based game) and chat with. I personally like this feature very much (but in the same time, it leads me to restrict my friend list to a few players to avoid too many notifications...)
- you can see your friends' news: tournaments they create/join, public comments they write, etc. I like this feature too, but it works better if you have few friends, otherwise you won't be able to see all the news.
- you can restrict your tables to your friends. I personally never do that (partly because my friend list is short) but is seems to be very popular (and I can somehow understand it).

Re: Friends request
I like adding people as friends as it tells me when they are online so I can play them live or expect they will make a move soon in a turn-based game we are playing. That said, it is indeed annoying to get constant notices if someone tends to log on and off repeatedly.

Re: Friends request
What is suggested by the author post is the following 2 changes :chrisa wrote:what "make it like on Facebook" would imply
_ when you add someone as a friend, he/she has to accept this friend request, so there could only be "mutual friends".
_ when 2 players become friends, we publish a news about that so other friends may see this and eventually friend-request the new friend if they know him/her.
At now, you can add someone to your friend to follow his/her activity, but it doesn't have to be reciprocal.

Not sure I would like this:
- I would not feel free to refuse invitations (could seem impolite?)
- I don't like the idea of warning all my friends that I have a new friend...
- what about notifications (a friend logs in/out, has some recent news, etc.)? I would hate receiving them from all the people I have been somehow forced to add to my list...

So if you keep current follow style, at least can you make notifications when someone follow you? Like in twitter.
When I said "nobody knows" I meant you dont even recive notification.
