The tables will only show up in the filtered lobby if you can join them, presumably. Probably would be nice to have a 'friend of' section on the friends page though. How do people know that they are your friends and can join your tables?
Friends request

Re: Friends request
They can know because you told them, or because they added you to their own list so that you appear as a "reciprocal friend".demiurgsage wrote:How do people know that they are your friends and can join your tables?
From what I can see, people who restrict their tables to their friends usually have a number of reciprocal friends they often play with.
A restriction to friends can also be used to avoid your table being joined by someone you don't know, if you fear leavers or bad losers for example.
If you see a table restricted to friends and don't know whether the table admin considers you as a friend or not, you can go to his profile and check his friend list.

Re: Friends request
I like Friends how are they now (follow, not-FB style), though name 'Friends' is pretty confusing
I also like the idea of 'friends of' list also, but renamed.
Not liking the idea of notification "someone added you to friends", as it also can take the freedom of refuse. I added to friends people I really like to play with, and I don't care much if they add me back, I just want to be notifed about their log-ins (and in some cases about the activity). But when having such notification, some people may feel obliged to add to friends too and be uncomfortable with this.
IMO the 'friends' tab could be 'friends and followers':
Friends: (current reciprocal friends)
Follows: (current friends)
Is followed by: ("friends of")
Optionally there can be added option for each person: notif about log-in&out, display ativity on Community.

So if you keep current follow style, at least can you make notifications when someone follow you? Like in twitter.
When I said "nobody knows" I meant you dont even recive notification.
Re: Friends request
Why would you need notifications?Moony Raven wrote:So not even notifications?
Do you really need to know that someone follows you to start following him?
If you want to know about his activities, follow him. If you don't want to follow him if he doesn't follow you, check his profile and friend list before.
If you want to tell someone that you follow him, tell him.
With notifications, I would feel compelled to follow back people, maybe only to be polite, because they would know that I know that they follow me. I don't like this idea at all.
Now, with the filtering of tables you cannot join, you know if you can join a table restricted to some player's friends or not.
Re: Friends request
Hello,
Ingesting thread.
At first thought, I would have however liked that others are simply informed that I added them (without asking them if they want to add you, so they would feel less obliged).
But otherwise, at the very least, it should be clear for everyone that people are not notified, so that you would tell them if you wish they know. I honestly did not know people were not notified before reading this thread.
Happy holiday season!

I would definitely not like that behaviour for the same reasons already exposed.sourisdudesert wrote: _ when you add someone as a friend, he/she has to accept this friend request, so there could only be "mutual friends".
_ when 2 players become friends, we publish a news about that so other friends may see this and eventually friend-request the new friend if they know him/her.

Re: Friends request
Because this is so logical thats why all social networks notify you or send a request. Twitter, Instagram, Google+, Facebook name it.chrisa wrote:Why would you need notifications?Moony Raven wrote:So not even notifications?

Sorry, I don't buy that:Moony Raven wrote:Because this is so logical thats why all social networks notify you or send a request. Twitter, Instagram, Google+, Facebook name it.
- This may be "logical" (whatever this means...) for a social network, but as far as I know, BGA is not a social network. Not every website has to behave as a social network. Not everybody likes social networks.
- I would be interested to know why you think that notifications are needed (I mean, a better explanation than "all social networks have notifications"):
- I can't see why you would need to automatically notify someone you start to follow since you can just tell him in the chat. Sometimes, I follow some players but do want to let them know, not because I want to keep it secret (they can see it from my profile) but because I don't want them to feel compelled to follow me.
- I can't see neither why you would need to be notified that someone follows you. If you are interested in his activities, follow him, whether he follows you or not. If you aren't, don't. That's so simple.

This is social and gaming network at the same time.chrisa wrote:Sorry, I don't buy that:Moony Raven wrote:Because this is so logical thats why all social networks notify you or send a request. Twitter, Instagram, Google+, Facebook name it.
