Kicked from a tournament game

Post by LeClad »

Hello,

"Puerto Rico • McQueen November 1"

I was playing versus "Apattrick75" and he kicked me out of the game because I was out of time.
Is it something really fair to do this in a tournament with turn by turn games ? I'm not doing it to my opponnents that are out of time.
He repeated it with user "dombourge" few minutes ago...

This kick gave me penalty so I can't contest it or write in the tournament's wall...

Could somebody help me ?

Thank you for your concern,

In tournaments I generally wait for the clock to kick a player however you agreed to a time based game in which winning on the clock is equally valid, if you exceed your time your opponent is fully entitled to kick you out.

hExact same thing Has happened to me too. I too, couldn't give him a red thumb or post on the tournament wall or user's wall.
As it turns out, some ppl are "gaming" the system by intentionally playing at odd times to make opponent time out and thereafter winning the matches.

Apparently, there's no recourse for this except hope that next time you run into a more sporting opponent. Someone who actually wants to be better at the game to win it.

If you remember, chess tourmanent is like that ... you play on the cloak, just be careful on the tourmanent you choose.

There are a lot of turn by turn tournaments that don't exceed 36 hours to FINISH the game.
So, the only solution I found is NOT to play anymore those tournaments.

i'm kicked out too from a tournament, for exceeding the time limit. Which is pretty odd, because i log in and play at least twice a day, by clicking the link on top to lead me direct to my games. The time limit for this tournament was 5 days, so how can i have missed my turn?
Is it possible i was not directed automatically to this game? I've played tournaments before, and was always directed to the game together with my other games.
It's annoying that i'm out of the tournament without having even participated, but worst is the fame penalty i received.

I hope someone can look into this?

Thanks a lot,
Alex

@Engelstaub: I think you mean game https://en.boardgamearena.com#!table?table=25716392

This tournament has a time setting of 5 days + 0:00 / turn, which means that you have 5 days to do all moves of the whole game. If you play twice per day and your opponents plays always about 60 minutes after your turn, you need 22 hours per day and your opponent only 2 hours.

In Stone Age you perhaps need 20 turns to get to a game end condition, which means you need to play about 4 times a day to finish this game in time.
Consequently playing 2 turns per day this would mean that you only can join games with a 30 days/match-setting (or at least 10 days/match).

Be aware, many tournaments are set up too strict!

Since dudi beat me to a response, I'll just say Stone age takes 50-70 moves so you need to be logged in basically all the time to finish a tournament in that time period. This means you need to have an average response time of ~2 hours since your opponent's last move to finish all your moves in the 5 day limit.

wow, that was a quick reaction! :)

thank you for the advice, didn't think that could be the reason. To be fair, i never really considered those number and variables in tournaments. But now i'm a warned man, i'll pay good attention.

I'll stay with the regular games, to make sure i don't mess up my fame even more.

Thanks again dudi2 and sprockitz!

I was playing in the Archmage Season's league. I sort of went on vacation during one of my games. Couldn't help it. I ran out about 11 hrs over, but we continued the game until the very end. On the last move of the game, my opponent decided to pull the plug and kick me out since he was going to lose. His name is Agentlik by the way.

Here's the replay if you are interested.
