ELO Calculations for Stone Age?

Post by Jomih »

Hi, all!

How does BGA calculate ELO for Stone Age?
1) For two-player games.
2) For 3-4 player games.

Specifically,
1) What are the formulas?
2) Does the ratings change depend on what the scores are?

Thanks!

I don't remember all of the details (but I do know that posting a wrong answer gets corrected faster than waiting for the right answer... )

Anyway, for all games on BGA, any ELO is calculated as if you won a game against everyone who came in after you, and lost a game against anyone who came in before you. It doesn't matter what the scores were -- 100 to 90 to 5 will calculate the middle person the same as if the scores had been 100 to 10 to 5. In each case, the person scoring 100 will have a win against the other 2, the person scoring 5 will have a loss against the other two, and the middle person will have 1 win and 1 loss.

Additionally, there is a factor based on the recommended number of players. (Or am I misremembering this for the "hits" calculation?)

They use this formula. K = 60 for players who played less than 30 games and K = 40 for others.
if a game is played with more than two players then every result will be multiplied by N/(2 * (N-1)), N - number of players if N is equal or less than recommended number of players. if N is more than recommended number, the multiplication factor is (recommeded N)/(2 * (N-1))

So do they use those K-values for all games, or just for Stone Age?

Thanks, demiurgsage!

For all games where it makes sense. (some cooperative or games with single mode may have different ELO scoring)
