This depends on whether you mean a group you have joined and want to find your way back to, or if you mean just to find some group. If it's something you joined, if you go to your profile, up at the top it should show "1 group" or "2 groups" or whatever. You can click on that or just scroll all the way to the bottom, where it will show groups you are a member of. Then you click on the group and it'll take you there.

If you know the name of a group, you can go to Community on the home page menu and put it in the box to find members/groups.

If you're just wanting to randomly search groups without having a specific name, I don't know of any way to do that. I'm a member of three groups, one of which I started, and two of which I saw being discussed (not sure where, maybe here?) and probably someone posted a link or something, I don't recall.

Nice groups you have there Lillian. I've joined one of them.

It would be nice to have better and easier discovery of groups admin.

Yeah, I agree. I just discovered on the forum (thanks to you brisdaz) the "Talkative and friendly games" group. If there had been a tool to search for public groups, I would have used it and found this group earlier. If doing this kind of tool is not planned by BGA admins, what about opening a "public groups" topic here on the forum, in which anyone can advertise groups? If it has succes, it could be stickied, so that it stays on the first page. Feedback welcome :)

It always makes me feel a little weird to know someone's been in my profile. ;) I don't know why - I look at other people's all the time. Only one of those groups is "mine."

I agree that there needs to be an easier way for people to find groups, and this is certainly not the first it's been brought up. I have always thought it a bit odd that there isn't a list somewhere, and I do wonder how much duplication there might be.

Having a stickied thread on here is probably a good idea. I don't know that it's been suggested before. Just to keep from being confusing, if someone posts one post with a link to their group (or groups), with the name and just a short blurb on what it's about, without a bunch of unnecessary responses, that would keep it nice and neat. And I suppose any member could add the group to that list since not everyone hangs around here to know such a thing would exist... as long as they're public groups.

Also, all games have a group that we are automatically members of when we play it. Those can be found by simply putting the game name into the search box under Community and it's always called <Game Name> Players. These of course are rather large - I don't pay attention to them myself.

The one problem I see is that such a list would not be alphabetic or grouped by topic, and I totally could see people posting the same group numerous times. No clue how to solve that problem. I mean, you can tell people to do a search first, but you know, people don't read.

There's a way to deal with that : the first post of the forum can be edited when people send posts to advertise a new group, so this first post itself becomes the list of groups. I can create this topic, and I'll edit the first post if the list gets big (and try to sort them, with help if needed, if the list gets really big).

I actually did think of that idea after I posted, though I might suggest making the first post more general, and then answer yourself and make the second post for the list of groups, but only so the two keep separate from each other.

I almost offered to do this, but I can go weeks and weeks without touching the forums and I'd be afraid I'd let it lag too much, though I could help out some if I'm around.

Perhaps they'll even sticky it some day. :)
