Mistaken hidden invitations on a game.

Post by KosherX »

Hello people.

I clicked by mistake on the options that hides some game suggestions that other people send me, but I didn't want that, I'm new to BGA and I didn't see exactly what that does. Is there a way to make the game (Tokaido, btw) allowed to show me game sessions suggestions again?

Many thanks.

Invitations are based on the games you currently want to play. In the Play area (Play Now tab) there is a list of games you want to play, right under this list there is a drop down box (it says add to my games) where you can add to the games you want to play. Go there and add Tokaido back to the games you want to play and you'll receive invites for it again.

So, invites are not silenced just by this? I'd like to know if this really works, is there a way to check this?

It stops the invites by taking it off the games you want to play list. There is no way to just stop invites without taking it off this list. If you don't want to prevent future invites and take it off the games you want to play list, it is best just to ignore the invite...this is what most people do.

You're saying "game suggestions," so I'd like to just confirm exactly what you mean here, because the discussion suddenly went to "invites." The invitations are different than the game suggestions. And the invitations can be both public and private ones.

The "game suggestion" is the thing you see over in the main chat, where it says something like "Joes suggests you join xyz game." Those will go away if you remove the game from that list, but most people ignore those. Those aren't personal invitations - call them "targeted advertising." There are also generic things on the chat, like "1 more for RttA" or something similar. Those are just going out to the general membership. You can't stop those, but you can ignore them.

Now, on the invitation pages (real time and turn-based), the games on your "want to play" list are the ones that show up at the top of the list, making them easier to find. If you remove it from the "want to play" list, those won't be in that top section anymore. Scroll down a ways and you'll see "Other Games" that are things you don't have in that list. But it doesn't prevent you from seeing them - they're just going to be mixed all in with other games you don't want to play, which is inconvenient. And not worth it just to stop the "targeted advertising."

Now, personal invitations will be announced at the top of pages in green. That won't happen unless someone puts your name into their invitation, and they'd really have to know who you are. I doubt you're referring to that. I can send a personal invite to anyone regardless of their "want to play" list.

Getting it back in your list is easy. :) And I did that too when I was new. I clicked the "don't want to play this right now" and it disappeared off my list, and I put it back, and just had to learn to ignore those "suggestions" in the chat.
