Why are some games 'not ranked'

On my profile some games show a ranking (4000th or so) but other games show a 'not ranked'. Is there any reason for this (they do not seem to be games that would lack a ranking system). Any ideas?

it means you haven't played that game in x days (60 days ??). if you finish another play of that game, your ranking will be restored.
