Jaipur - show a couple of items in log

Post by Call me Ishmael »

I just went to report a bug in Jaipur pertaining to blanked-out items in the call log, only to find out that it is deliberately coded that way to prevent players from wasting time by scrolling back to see which cards have been played since the start of the game.

Very well.

But could the game log at least be coded to retain the last two moves? Frequently the cards fly by so fast one doesn't see exactly what just happened. I get it you don't want a lot of scrolling way back, but I think what we have goes too far, and we should be able to look at what just happened in the last two moves of the game, please and thank you.

Why the last two? If I recall correctly, the last one is always displayed. Therefore, if it flies by too fast, it is because you are making a move too quickly.

Also, it isn't to "waste time" seeing what cards have been played -- it is to prevent people from being able to calculate exactly what is in the opponent's hand and number of camels in their pile. Part of the skill of the game is to remember this without outside assistance.

Hit reload. It will show the full log. Not sure if this works for realtime as well as turn based but I sometimes have to reorient in turn based and when you reload into a game it shows the full log.

That's not all what admin's response to the 'bug' report said , it said it was also to keep the game moving quickly, and they declared it notabug.

Because when the last two items are not displayed, each and every time I have to pause and look at all what the other player did before I play my move, when most of the time I don't need to. The way it is currently results in continuous unnecessary slower play. Looking back two turns would still prevent going back over the entire log (as is currently the case in Hearts) and would allow players the liberty to play quickly without losing the information from the opponent's last 1 turn.
