remaining time display -- request for feature

Post by Espina »

Would it be possible to have a display for the remaining time on each of one's turn-based games on the 'Games in progress' page? I for one would find that very useful in prioritizing which game to play on next. Arranging the games in progress page by remaining time rather than start time would also be a very nice feature.

Thanks!

I like this suggestion.

Also, know that prioritizing is already done by the site. Using the "Go to next table" button should take the player to the table with the least amount of time remaining.

Hi, I am aware of this, but but to me prioritizing does not always mean going to the table with the least time remaining. Some games require more thought than others. Some games there is more at stake (e.g. because one has a higher rating) than others. For instance I would prioritize a Logger or K2 game with 20 hours left higher than a Lost Cities game with 3 hours left.

Don't get me wrong, I *do* appreciate that they provided the "go to table with least time remaining" functionality. It is just that sometimes the provided features are not the best fit to what one would like most, and if it is easy to implement the feature I am requesting, and other people would like it too, then why not? In any case, the developers will not know what one would like unless one makes suggestions.

Cheers.

I fully understand and agree with your position. I like cars with manual transmissions over automatic; I run Linux on my computer rather than Win/iOs. Even though automatic is more convenient for most people, I like the control... :)

We are going to order tables in "gameinprogress", starting with tables where you are playing + tables where you have the least remaining time.

Displaying remaining time is more difficult (this page is refreshing in realtime).

Me too! No, I don't have a manual transmission (which to me is an entirely different thing) or Linux, but I still never set anything on automatic, computer updates, regular payments, etc., unless I'm forced into it. If you have time to get through all your turns and you're comfortable that one isn't about to run out of time, the "controlled" way to do this is opening the game in a different tab and then simply picking the next game from your games list. If I discover there's one that I seem to get behind on (due to badly matching time zones or something), I can still manually pick that one first. But once I get on here, I've got turns caught up quickly enough to not have to worry about going over time.

You did it! Thank you, thank you, thank you! This is so great!

Oh well. It was worth requesting. But the reordering of the tables is a huge help!

I hate to mess with something that someone else is so in love with, but this is doing nothing but causing me problems finding my games. I noticed they started moving around, but there doesn't seem to be any logic to it. Like the things I just took a turn on don't go to the bottom like you'd expect. For example, I have a Backgammon game in which we've taken several moves in just one day, but it never goes to the bottom after I take my turn. It just seems haphazard.

I don't play that many games at once so it doesn't take me long to catch up my turns, but sometimes I go back to something and look, and now I never know where it is in the list and I'm scrolling around trying to find it. And if I have more than one of the same game it tends to confuse me. I'm used to the newest being on top.

This is actually driving me a little bit nuts.
