How to delete past discussions?

Was presented with a new "feature" I was unaware anyone was clamoring for - the retention of past discussions with various players.

As this can quickly grow to saturate the site, would be good to understand how to turn this feature off, or mitigate somehow (delete selected, or turn on only when wanting to capture specific material in a discussion). Have no worries about what I typically say/post, but cannot fathom the why.

This appears to be a left turn for BGA - rationale= ? ( I would prefer a focus on the above request, not pages on numerous rationales however).

Where are you seeing these retained discussions? I can't seem to find how to access them, to see how they can be large.

I supposed you are talking about the "private messages", which are now saved.

We are going to provide a way to remove the history.

Yes, in reference to the private messages shared in chat.

To the "where", select 'check my private messages' which has undergone an update from the more mail-oriented send/post to now storage of all past chats (reason?).

Appreciate working on the history deletion function - let us know when active. Consider a -1 vote for the "new" feature here.

Now you can remove past discussion using "Clear history" buttons from "My messages" page (click on top right envelope icon to access this page).

And the reason of all of this is simple : now the same action is used to send a message to an online player and an offline player. It makes no sense to distinguish between the two when you just want to contact someone.

Very good - appreciate the speed in including the new function.

While I understand your response, my initial perspective is that this is a feature few want/use - as such, rather than having included this feature set blanketly, perhaps a setting for "on/off" as well? Thanks much.
