I don't understand how ELO is calculated

Post by PlanBee »

I have just finished a game of Colorado. Before the game my elo was 181, I came 4th out of 5 and lost 33 elo.

The player that game 5th (last) started with 188 elo but only lost 22 elo.

How come, this doesn't make sense to me

You can read it, the second comment of sourisdudesert to understand. It depends on the K factor and I also notice that you have only played 9 games of Coloretto here so far, and the 5th player has played nearly 50 games. So your K factor is bigger than his, and it affects a lot to elo calculation after a game. The bigger the K factor is, the more elo you will earn/lose if you win/lose. :)

Yes, with the number given by lachimi red, your 5th player win and loose three times less elo than you.

If he was on his first twenty games, he would loose 66 elo.
