30 - 16 - 2 : Logger (win)

Post by RicardoRix »

I like the game, but I don't really know what I'm doing, I haven't quite figured it out yet.

I totally, totally lucked my final turn to win the game. Sorry opponent.

31 - 16 - 2 : Uncle Chestnut's Table Gype. (win)

Hands down the best name for a board game ever. This game is a good mix of fun and strategy, not too serious and playable by all.

This particular game was fairly tit for tat. I believe I probably had 1 or 2 more long jumps than my opponent. A stand off in the middle of the board. Game over.

This game is OK I guess, it doesn't have much in the way of excitement or fun - the choices are too limited.

I own this game for some reason, so this is my 1st game on BGA, just managed to squeeze the win.

A programming game that is barely interactive! huh - where is the fun in that?? what were they thinking?

Yeah, tokens got won, a few creatures got killed. Such a good looking game, but plays like a yawn fest.

32 - 18 - 2 : Targi (lost).

Post by RicardoRix »

I quite like Targi. It's not gonna blow you away, but the simple mechanics and just enough choices to keep things interesting but not overload the brain burn is just right. I can't really tell with the few games I've played but what seems to be lacking is different strategies to victory, even so an enjoyable 2 player game which is fairly unique in terms of game play.

This particular game. I made some small errors, but really I was out-played by my opponent who never once let his foot off the gas, I tip my hat - well played sir Bob!

32 - 19 - 2 : Troyes (lost) (2nd /3)

Post by RicardoRix »

Troyes is a really unique concept and the game play is pretty good. Strategy wise I feel a bot lost, it's difficult to know what exactly you are meant to be doing even after many plays. Still it's very enjoyable - I recommend giving this a try.

The final scoring was extremely close. I totally forgot I could re-roll dice with influence points, may have possibly stole the win with the last die.
Congrats the the winner.

I'm not a big fan of this game, what the heck is it suppose to be? All the aspects of the game appear pretty weak, the tile placement for example is pretty poor, connecting roads - pfff big deal. Everything seems to be slightly abstract, I do stuff but have no real idea to why I'm doing it, I'm doing it because I have to do something. It maybe doesn't help that my first game was 5 player turned based game that lasted 4 months before someone fell out of time. If you like very dry board games that look really interesting then give it a go.

This particular game I stole the victory, sorry opponent. In fact my 1st and probably last ever victory on BGA.

33 - 20 - 2 : Florenza the card game. (lost)

Post by RicardoRix »

Florenza the card game is pretty dull. One dimentional: resource gaining and then spend for victory points. There is not much else to it.

This game, lost on a tie breaker! Bah!!! Since I got off to a shocking start, had to draw and then got nothing from it. At the end aswell I wasted an action where I could have got the captain for 1 extra point. My opponent also was pretty highly ranked so am quite disappointed to lose on a tie breaker.

I don't know what to say about this game, it has a really nice theme and looks beautiful, but the game play is totally lost on me.

So I came last, but only by 2 points. I took my turns and collected and bought stuff with very little thought for strategy, I think I missed the last meal which could have put me into the lead..? no idea. A very, very strange game.
