Dominion interface booster (Working again!)

Post by pikiou »

French version below.

Here is a GreaseMonkey script which:
* shows all cards on one page (see example below)
* accelerates card animations by 10
* disables sounds unless it's your turn and you're not watching the game

Image
Much more could be done, but it's a start.

To install it, first get TamperMonkey for Chrome, or GreaseMonkey for Firefox.
Then create a new script with it and paste the content from >this file< in it.
Change the cardResize variable to 0.65 if your screen resolution height is between 864 and 900 included, 0.75 if it's 960, 0.85 if it's 1024 or more.
That's it, your Dominion games on BGA should be even more enjoyable !

Wow,

This looks great.

Thank you pikou.

I'm very interested by any feedback about this one.

If a lot of you find this script helpful it may be feasible to integrate this directly :)

Cheers,

Giving this a go now, it seems to work pretty well for me.

The only downer for me is the lack of card names (though maybe I can add them back in) - it's fine for the base set cards as I recognise most of the pictures, but for the Intrigue ones with the art removed it's a pain having to hover over each card to remind myself what it is.

I will have a fiddle around and see if I can make the names work better for me, and share my results.

EDIT: Got it. I replaced line 76

Change from:

Code: Select all

addGlobalStyle(".card_title {display: none;}");
To:

Code: Select all

addGlobalStyle(".card_title {width: 60px !important; background: #fff !important; font-size: 50% !important; top: 2px !important;}");
This may require additional fiddling depending on your settings.

Wow this seems great! Except I tried to install it and nothing happens...

As far as I know I've installed it correctly and BGAboost has a checkmark beside it in the GreaseMonkey menu. I tried both the original and the modified one with the card names.

Any help/suggestions anyone? (I'm running firefox 8.0.1 on Mac OSX 10.6.8, just installed GreaseMonkey today).

Thanks!

Are you still having trouble with it? I find Firefox can sometimes require shutting down entirely before it will use new plugins etc.

Unfortunately I don't use FF much anymore, so not sure what else could be causing the problem.

Thanks, this is great! I always had to zoom out in my browser before to get everything on one page (but then that made the chat area super tiny and difficult to read. :geek: ) I like being able to set the card size according to my screen real estate, and have it not tied to every other element of the site.

Sourisdudesert, if you are considering altering the default card layout, I suggest doing a compromise of the current Single Cost Per Row and the highly compressed view of this script. When I play with my family, we arrange by cost in rows, but if there are only a few cards with a certain cost, they share a row with cards of another price. So in pikiou's example screenshot, the 2- and 3-coin cards would be first row (with a slightly bigger space to mark the price gap), followed by the 4- and 5-coin cards on the second row. Only in very rare circumstances would we break a line of cards of the same cost across two rows, as this script does.

Thanks, Zark, for showing how to get the card titles back. Not as pretty as the native BGA text overlay, but a necessary tweak with no unique Intrigue artwork. P.S. Any way to use GreaseMonkey to get the artwork back? ;)

As mentioned above, this would be worth integrating.
The amount of vertical scrolling necessary to play is off-putting, especially when there's so much wasted horizontal screen space.
The alternative of zooming out as much as possible still doesn't avoid the problem.

This was working fine for me in Chrome but sadly about a week ago it stopped working and I haven't managed to fix it in either Chrome or Firefox. Anyone else having troubles?

The card layout portion is not working for me either in Firefox or Chrome. But, the doorbell on each turn is, thankfully, still muted.

Pikiou,
Please please please get it working again, I never realized how much nicer it makes the game until it was gone.
