Undo player elimination

Post by quietmint »

My game eliminates players throughout the round/hand, and then a new round begins with all players back in the game again. In other words, elimination is only temporary. What's the best way to handle this within BGA framework? Can I reverse the effects of self::eliminatePlayer(), or do I need to manage the per-round elimination -- and the turn order :( -- manually?

Well the goal of self::eliminatePlayer() is to free the eliminated players so that they can take part in another game, so... if you need to keep them in the game, you indeed have to handle in-game elimination and turn order manually.

Okay, makes sense. In that case, there's a bug -- we should never show "Get back in the game" button (<div id="zombieBack">) to players who have been eliminated, because there's no method to reverse/undo elimination. I suppose this is only for non-eliminated zombie players?

Likewise, "Get back in the game" should not be visible/allowed after the game is over.

Yes, this should only happen for non-eliminated zombie players. You mean that it happens with eliminated non-zombie players?

If player is both zombie and eliminated, it happens when it should not.

If game is over, it happens when it should not.
