Show game level in profile.

Post by Oedin »

When I look at my profile, it shows my current ELO for each game, but it doesn't show "Beginner","Good Player", "Expert", "Master", etc.

Can you add this to the display, so I know that when I can join a game that is open to "Good Players and above" or "Experts and Above".

Or is there an easier way to see if I can join?

Thanks.

The rating text also doesn't show on the table screen (for RtfG at least). So when viewing all tables open for joining (Play Now) you will see the string under each player's name, but once you go into a specific table the string is not displayed, only the ELO (for players where that shows). I think it would be nice if the string appeared at the table as well as the profile.

Related, how are "Beginner" and "Average" defined? As I've managed to work my RtfG ELO from <1100 to >1500 over the past few days, I've been curious whether all those (i.e. anything <1600) are considered Average or if it has a range as well (is there a point at which you're a "Poor" player and you guys are just too polite to show that? =) And I'm sure I'm not a Beginner anymore, but at what point does a player cease to be a Beginner?

Thanks. - Will

This information was taken from the rating page located here: http://en.boardgamearena.com/#!doc/Rating

Good players: > 1600 ELO
Experts: > 1800 ELO
Masters: > 2000 ELO

I think the "beginner" status only shows for your first game. I'm not sure about "average" or "poor".

Hello,

You are a beginner when you didn't win a victory yet at a game.

Average level players are players <1600 ELO with at least a victory.

Thanks sourisdudesert. I didn't mean to distract the thread from its original question, any comments on showing the rating text in more places? I would like to see this also. =) - Will

P.S. - I noticed (at least for RtfG) that the trophies most of the time reflect what your current level is, as I've seen people "gain" the Good player trophy because they'd just been demoted below Expert due to a loss. But if you achieve Good player and then get knocked below 1600 ELO you don't lose the Good player trophy. Seems like either once you get the Expert trophy you should keep it forever (even if you fall back to Good player or less), or if you fall below Good player you should lose that trophy as well (I don't feel so bad saying that since I'm in that situation right now). Keeping it in one case but losing it in the other seems a bit inconsistent to me. If one could lose the Good player trophy then the trophy could be used to visually see whether you're currently a Good player, Expert or Master, it wouldn't necessarily differentiate Beginner from Average but as you explained having at least one win clearly separates those two.
