Option: ban cards for a game

Post by BjorkioTheJinxed »

Since the original game rules explicitely mention that players can choose to play without specific cards, there should be an option to ban specific cards from a game (regardless of "level", whether Magician, Archi etc.). I think 2 or 3 bans at the very maximum could be reasonable.

I, for one, think that Temporal boots are way too powerful, especially since they can be combined with Amsug. The Codex cannot, for instance, and that should be reason enough to prove that point. Not only you get the opportunity to force a card back into your opponent's hand (so -5 pts, not to mention the points value of the card), but on top of this, you determine the end of the game with the temporal effect! So that can mean easy 20 pts bonus with Regifield Healm / Chest of Urm, etc.
The impact of this combo is even more unfair and unexpected when the Boots AND Amsug were picked along the game, and not in the original draft.

ANYWAY. We all have our own nemesis card in this game, and we should all be allowed to launch a game without it.

Honestly, the Boots+Amsug combo is so popular on this site that I go into every single Seasons game assuming that my opponent will use that combo, so I try to play all of my cards before the middle of Year 3.

I agree with your suggestion. I personally would like the option of not playing with Igramul. Isn't it a promotional card that wasn't even part of the Path of Destiny or Enchanted Kingdom expansions? Since the developer still has not fixed the bug that tells you what your opponent's cards are, that card is way more trouble than it's worth.

That's how powerfull this effect is, hence, how unbalanced, if it makes most player assume they have to play as if it was to be feared. For one thing, sometimes, the dices simply don't allow you to play all your cards before mid-year 3, plus, if you rush your hand prematurely before said mid-third-year, and your opponent does not have this combo to play, you may have lost your chances to win, because many other good combo require to be played at the very last moment.
And the worst of all: Amsug + Temporal Boots can be used to make the game last longer instead. So if you rush your hand, and have nothing left to play... your opponent can get extra turns to achieve a killer cristalisation combo, or benefit some more turns of Wonderous Chest, or whatever.

Amsug should not work with Temporal Boots; and, we should be allowed to ban 1 to 3 cards in the settings of a game
