skill level

Post by skhpldk »

I'd like to play some chess and similar games but I kind of suck. I know if I play against great players and get slaughtered constantly I'll just get angry and frustrated. Is it possible to play against people who have a similar number of wins?

Try to find opponents by their ELO score. The chess playerbase on BGA is fairly small though, so the ELO scores may not be an accurate representation of skill.

Also, when setting up a table, limit the skill level of people who can join. Preventing masters and experts from joining a table reduces the chances that you will get totally slaughtered.

(This is basically a repeat of what N_Faker said, by the way. But you can't limit by arbitrary ELO, but can set which categories are allowed.)

How do I do that? All I can find is that drop down box that says "ELO rating" with options ON and OFF.

Upper right corner of the box with players in it (which has just you in it, and spaces for people who want to join), there's a link "Restrict table access." Clicking this will bring up a pop-up showing skill levels and drop-down menus for reputation and karma.
