Thanks Jest, you were right, I was confused between abandon and concede.

I (now) can see how conceding a two player game would usually be much better than abandoning it.

So another option (for me) when entering games that possibly might not complete in time would be to just do 2 player games in those cases.

anyway, I think I'm getting a feeling for how things work at this site, thanks!

You still need to plan your games a bit -- a player can only concede the game once more than half of it has been completed. (And there are various threads about how for any particular game the half-way point isn't calculated "correctly"...)

I've heard there are various stages in enlightenment, some label them like this:
1. Novice
2. Advanced Beginner
3. Competent
4. Proficient
5. Expert

I think we all know what level I'm at :D
