Just one thing: as reasonably experienced Go player, I've always thought that resigning when a game is lost is an elegant and polite move, which saves time to both players and also conveys the message "the game is lost, I know: it can be turned around only if you make some kind of really stupid mistake and I don't want to rely on that".
Ok, having said all this, looks like there is a penalty here if you resign: is that correct?!
