What about signaling the number of available tables by a live changing background color of the button with text "# tables abailable" from dark green for 1 table to light green for more than 5 tables?
A new lobby for BGA
Re: A new lobby for BGA
true enough but what is missing is if i open a table to join is seems like i am in isolation...before i was able to keeps tabs on what games were available while being on an open game..and when i saw one i wanted to play i could join that table if no one had joined the game i opened yet. This does not seem possible now. Is there a way to do that?sourisdudesert wrote: ↑12 September 2019, 10:53This is totally possible to to: on each game you can see the number of tables available for each game, so you can immediately see if a table is available for a given game.

This is even easier than before: by using the blue "Join" and "Create" button, you can create/join tables without leaving the lobby. So you can still have a view on the whole thing while sitting at your table.
Very good suggestion. Working on it.

Re: A new lobby for BGA
Right now no one sees games they haven't favourited or recommended.
Based on how many times I have played games that didn't fall under these categories when I saw an open table....
and based on that you don't see anymore if it's worth opening tables with games with less players...
this is very bad for games with less players...

Re: A new lobby for BGA
I do appreciate the work you put into the site, and your are correct the lobby system is very important part of it. BUT....
(you asked for feedback
)
it's not just a sense of 'which game do I want to play', especially when it comes to turn-based games, which I primarily play 99% of the time.
I would survey the old list of tables atleast 10 times a day, probably more...
I get a sense of community, I see which players are playing what and possibly which new players are coming on to the scene. Even the games not on my active list I would survey to see what was going down.
At the top it also tells me the tables I have joined and yet to open. I can't see these anymore.
I am very particular about which kind of table I set-up and which tables I join.
I am intersted in:
- the time-frame of the table the table, how many moves per day.
- how many players, if it's 2-8 players then to me I want to be more specific, I don't want an 8 player game that will likely time-out and/or take 5 months to complete, equally I don't want to play 6 Nimmt 2 player.
- the abilities of the players I am playing against.
- who I am actually playing against, if I recongnise any names.
All this infomation was easy to scan over. It was a good 'window' into the BGA turn-based scene, very informative and helped satisy my 'picky' needs. (If anything I would like even more information).
It's now all hidden behind atleast 1-click for each game.
I have played maybe 170 different games on BGA, and my current active list is 107 different games. I can't click on each and everyone all the time.
I am sure the old lobby is still compatible, so I would have thought it could be an option somewhere, even if it's in a user's profile to allow the old style of table list.

With 107 favorite games, the old lobby interface was probably not ideal too ...RicardoRix wrote: ↑12 September 2019, 11:46 I have played maybe 170 different games on BGA, and my current active list is 107 different games. I can't click on each and everyone all the time.
What you need is basically an "expand all" option, with "small icons" display, and eventually a "sort by number of available tables". With these, the lobby is going to look very much like the old one.
Re: A new lobby for BGA
I can’t seem to suggest players to come to my table. Has this disappeared?
