Hanabi: please explain the rules of the tournament.

I am now playing a game Hanabi in a tournament:

I don't understand who should be qualified for next tournament round.
Could someone explain me how it works ?

How can you have competitions with a cooperative game ?

It doesn't seem to make sense in a knockout format, but for Swiss or RoundRobin it could be possible. It's just a cumulative score - that should work out ok.
