Penality when we leave

I use ELO system for a while (like 10 years) in several game. For me an important point with this classement is to have a real idea of you level because the entire population average number of point was alway 1500.

But actually this doesn't work on BGA. We see sometime game were one people lost point and no other one gains it. It is when someone leave the game. He gets a -30 points penality and nobody win these points. So the entire system lost them. I think it is really better to dispatch them between the players.

For exemple : A, B and C play a game. C leave the game. He have a -30 penalty. So we have 30 points to dispatch between A and B. They can have 15 each or the winner between them can have 2/3 or all the points.

It isn't necessary for ELO to conserve points in order for it to work correctly. After all, the system loses/gains points in any case, whenever a player deletes their account / stops playing a certain game, and their ELO isn't exactly 1500.

It is the base of the system. So of course it is important. Some people go away and they stay under 1500. Of course. It is not a problem. We all know that 1500 is the average of all players, not only active players.
But BGA must avoid a people for having multiple accounts and delete any way for the system to lose points.

Try to see the problem from the other side. What is good about don't give any points to opponent of a leaver? It is pretty sure that the leaver will loose the game. So you don't receive anything instead of receive points. It is frustrating. And, except if you fear some hacks that force people to leave there have any good points.
