What's wrong with tournament agenda

Post by Daavids »

I created a roundrobin tournament and in Agenda there was planned first 2 matches for each player should have been tomorrow, but started 2 days ago with 8 matches for each player.

In the beginning I thought nothing so bad, but tomorrow i saw too much timed out games.

What did I do wrong, when creating Tournament Agenda? I wanted that there would be 2 new matches after each 3 day period.

Is there some way to change the Agenda or game maximum duration for running tournament?

I think you were thinking of the Swiss(1 game at a time) tournament rather than RoundRobin (all games all together).

In all tournament formats the time restrictions can be very unforgiving.

oh right, I am unaware of any ability to do that. I'm not sure.
AFAIK all the roundrobin games are played at the same time, at-least that's what I've always played.

OK, I see now how you've set the dates 3 days apart - yes that would be cool way of doing it. It's doing something because some games are finished while others are yet to start.

It maybe that each player get 24 hours, if 1 player plays instantly each move, then theoretically the other player would time-out in 24 hours.

Yes, that's the main reason. But my first question was, why there were 8 or 7 matches on the first day, when there should not be. Some players apparently could't play all of them.

This looks definitely like a bug, since your first date is January 13. No games should have started by now.

It makes me worry for my Carcassonne Round Robin that starts January 17, with 3 games per game day...

Okay, now I failed with the same problem. It was the first tournament that I created

https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=37631

What I wanted:
  • Turn-based games with 15 days game time
  • One game starting every week, so that the times overlap. That does not work
  • So I scheduled Games 4, 7, 10 and 13 with a difference of 15 days. Games 5,6 didn't accept the same time as Game 4, so I left them on ASAP, believing that this means: ASAP after Game 4. And I did the same for games 8,9,11,12,14 and 15.
BGA then shows me 5 Dates, and behind each one: 3 Games. Sooo - everything is looking fine.

BUT: All games with setting "ASAP" startet at Day 1. My players are furious. And I am too.
That's a terrible bug. I need to schedule games as "ASAP", and BGA shows them as "ASAP after the previous scheduled day". Programming the arena might be important, but fixing this bug (#8591) is quite important, too!
