Rating adjustments when game is not completed

I just played a game of Puerto Rico where one player disconnected. It was a 3-player game and I had the highest rating. When the rating adjustments were calculated this caused me to lose rating due to tie with the other non-leaving player, that doesn't seem fair to me. I think it would make more sense if it only compared the non-leaving players to the leaving player when adjusting the rating.
