Longer Times for turn-based round robin tournaments

Post by Robo65 »

I created a turn based round robin tournament that started today, with 14 players, and because of the scheduling problems in round robin, 9 of the 13 games started at once - horrifying my players. We will manage somehow, I hope, but I'd like to create turn-based round robin tournaments with more than 30 days playing time.

I chatted with sourisdudesert about it and learned that this is intended behaviour. Hm. Ok. But...

many players don't have the skill to play 10 games in parallel, or don't have that much time to play them in a few days. A longer time frame would be very much appreciated. Usually, players negotiate a time when they complete the game in realtime, and having 60 days or more would give them a full month in which they can schedule their games freely without getting in time trouble.

Thanks for considering this ;)

really for round robin they should let games start at overlapping time. There is no reason to restrict starting a round until the previous round finished like in single elimination or Swiss. that way you could start a handful of games at a time.
