In case it was missed, here was my suggestion:

Have BOTH live and lobby arena matches - live is the current system (can jump on and start a game any time and wait for someone to join), lobby like the experiment - set times when players are matched up.

Here's how to make it worth while: Make the live matches worth LESS, and the lobby matches worth MORE. That's taking into account that live matches may be more uneven, while lobby matches should usually be better matched - you are risking more.

I feel really sad that you ended that experiment so early.
For one day I was able to play with reasonable opponents, without big delays between the games and risk of being kicked if game start unexpectably when I am out of pc.
Now I am waiting for 15-20 games for 30 minutes and without match. :(

I'm also in agreement with this.

I also agree that was a good idea. I can have a match every 30 minutes and don't have to keep checking the lobby every 2 minutes. The only problem was I couldn't join early and have to time the registration.

Bring the old mode back. It worked super good. Now I'm stuck in long queues vs bronze opponents. Much less fun.

Machmaking with ELO ruined every single competitive game that i used to play. It simply adds endless negative aspects and burns out people who cant handle playing against better players when they hit a wall of their skill something that never happened playing on community servers that had all the variety of players and settings.

matchmaking gimps everything to very narrow gameplay limited by set rules that can never be changed by people hosting.

In FPS sphere is especially easy to see. games are completely bland and toxic as hell because everyone is passive aggressive and frustrated do to elo based matchmaking.

Recently started playing Escape from Tarkov a game that matches all players on even playing ground, bad people can go in bad gear and still beat best geared players and get rewarding experience from that and there are no smurfs sealclubbing low ranks for easy gratification. now compare it to CS:GO, R6 Siege etc. or other competitive FPS games and you see how horrible has competitive scene become compared to how it was from 1998-2008 when we didnt have this beyond stupid idea of regulating everyone and forcing quick matchmaking on everyone while trying to sift the player base according tho their skill. its this stupid new age social engineering that exploded do to extremism in left politics around western countries. because people think they know better how everyone should enjoy their time and life.

This new arena will fail hard. and goes against what board games are all about - the community.....

How is this fair? Just played Race4G against an opponent in the same league; he had 1600 points, I had 1850. I won one game, got 5 points. Lost one, lost 32 points. 6:1 in the same league doesn't seem fair.
