Red7 rules very ambiguous

Post by Phoxtrot »

Action rules are very hard to understand from the rules and the meaning in the French and English rules is different...

Card 1 in English:
Choose a player with fewer cards in their Palette than you.
Take a card from another player’s Palette, and place it
face down on top of the Draw Deck.
Note: If you lose this turn, return the stolen card to their
Palette.

Card 1 in French:
Choisissez une carte sur la Palette d’un autre joueur et placez-la
face cachée au-dessus de la pioche. Vous ne pouvez pas choisir
un joueur dont la Palette comprend moins de cartes que la vôtre.

In the French rule you *cannot* pick a player with less cards in their palette. There is also no mention of returning the stolen card if you lose this turn.
I don't understand the English version of that rule to be honest.

------------------------------
Card 5:
Play another card from your hand to your Palette.
Notes: If your hand is empty, do nothing. If the card has
an action, perform it.

Card 5 French:
Jouez une autre carte de votre main sur votre Palette. Vous
pouvez quand même défausser une carte sur la Toile (si cela
vous fait remporter la partie).

French : Play another card from your hand onto the Palette. You may still discard a card onto the canvas (if that makes you win the game)

I don't understand the French version of this one.

-------------------
Card 3:
Draw a card from the Draw Deck.
Notes: If the deck is empty, do nothing. You may use this
action to try and find a card to discard.

Card 3 French: Piocher une carte.
--> Draw a card (no "Notes" at all)

I don't understand the "find a card" note in the English version.

Here is my take:

The original for these rules is English, French is a translation. So go by the English text when in doubt.

If you do not understand a rule in English, let me know what you do not understand, and we'll try to figure that out.

Regarding Card 3: The "find a card" note clarifies, that when you play 3, you can use the drawn card for discard if you wish. That is if the cards you have before you draw are not suitable for discarding, or if there are cards suitable for disarding, but for any reason you want to find another one to discard.

I'm sure you know this, since you read the rules and they are linked on the game page, but in case you missed it, here is the link to the original rules: http://asmadigames.com/rules/Red7_Rules.pdf

I do not speak French.
