More useful training mode

Post by Technon »

(I posted this in "Suggestions" before but it seems that forum is unfortunately not used so I will post it on the forum that is actually used.)

Why isn't it possible to create a game in training mode without other real players? If I just want to try the game to see how it looks and works, how it is implemented in the website programming etc, it is sometimes impossible just because I have to wait for another player who also want to play that exact same game in training mode. If there is no other player who wants to play that exact game in training mode then it is impossible to do it.

So training mode is actually pointless unless you find someone who also wants to play training mode for the exact same game.

It would be much more useful if you could just start training mode on your own. It could be bots instead, or even no other players at all, since the point is not to play an actual game but just to try it out and get used to it.

It's very convoluted way to do it. Also it doesn't even work without premium account.

Very much agree. It would be great to be able to get used to a game by yourself before playing it with other humans ... and fun to play solo sometimes, or add an extra bot player to a game to get 3 players when there are just 2 of you.

Anyone know if there are plans to add AI players to BGA? I think there would be plenty of volunteers to program them (me included -- sounds like fun!).

(I would assume a game with bots wouldn't affect the rankings etc. and just count as practice).

I have nothing to add except that I thoroughly agree! I would try a lot more games if I could learn them, without penalty, against AI.
