Arena season 1: how to advance to next league

Pretty newbie here writing.

I wonder how is calculated how many stars you get/lose when you play in arena mode for 7 Wonders?

I'm a little bit puzzled here, as this happened:

- won a game --> got 1 star
- second place --> lost 1 star
- third place --> lost 4 stars

I'm currently on platinum, and I was playing in all three matches against stronger opponents (ELO-wise). So, is this a bug or is it actually intended? I mean, with this kind of ratio only the Kasparov of tabletop games could ever reach the next league...

it depends on your final place and on the level of league of your opponents but I think you already know that because you are in a high level league

I was looking for something more like a formula: as they said, the system doesn't let you choose your opponents, so the pairings are done to (more or less) match your level.

Now I won again 2 games, and I've been awarded... zero.

So now the updated situation is:

1. I cannot chose my opponents
2. If I win, I get zero
3. If I lose, I lose... zero? 'cause now it is impossible to even get 1 point winning?

Please, some admin respond to this with actual formulae as it is really frustrating.

You actually CAN choose the legue of your opponents. Click the cogwheel next to the 7W-Icon in the lobby and ->Extended Options ->Opponent Level, there you can restrict the league distance of your opponents. However it may lead to longer waittimes.
