I agree, what is the point of a private group if anyone can see the messages?

I didn't even know about the privacy issues of the groups. But really, private groups in the BGA are just the visibility of privacy. Anyone can read a message from a group of which they are not a member. It can't be that way. Need to change it.
So, i agree with Jen!

I didn't even realise that other people could read comments in a private group which they are not associated with... Which really doesn't make sense as the group is meant to be 'private'.

I totally agree that BGA needs to review how communication is shared in a private group and not publicise for everyone to read. Thank you Jen for proposing this to BGA! 🙌😁 Hopefully, this gets actioned soon!

I was also understanding that the only people that would be able to read would be in the group. How many times have we been with friends in chat and said a word or phrase that got us the "we detect a word... could get you banned IF REPORTED BY OTHERS..." So basically you could be in a group talking about someone being a weird pervert stalker and the get BANNED because that weird pervert stalker followed you to your PRIVATE GROUP and reported you! There already is nothing stopping you from looking at someones profile who has red thumbed you. You just cant communicate with them or get on a table or chat on a table they are on. Comments made on a private groub should only show on that private groups discussion board. Comment should also not show up on your profile "Gnocchi donkey made a comment on Keep Out group " Jack Aufdehley seems to make a rude comment and thinks they are gods gift to the game and not worth having on your table" etc" what is the sense of private group

The issue to me is why even have "private" groups if they aren't in fact private? You can still get flagged by BGA or other members of the group if you are in some way being inappropriate so what is the point of making all conversations besides private messages, or "playing with ___" messages public? Myself and many others would appreciate if BGA could change this issue.

I agree that at this moment the private groups are not even close to being really private. Everybody can see the posts and even comment on them while not being part of the group even. I really hope that changes in the future.

Honestly, I think (I hope) it's a bug ???
Because otherwise I agree it would be nice to change it quickly so as not to mislead people ...

I have personally seen "private" groups go from great focused discussions among friends to completely derailed comment threads stemming from people outside the group. The owner of a private group really shouldn't have to delete threads or comments because of outsiders adding comments.
