I totally agree with this. There should be an option for "completely private" which only the members can see all the posts and comments. The current system is not private at all, since everyone can see it when someone replies to the post....
And thanks Jenny for pointing this out :)

+1
From my point of view - I see many posts/comments from private groups that do not interest me and should stay private to the group.
Group chat works correctly in terms of privacy but messages are not saved and if you are not online you will not see it.

Thanks Jen I agree 100%

yes Jen, totally agree with you! The whole point of a private group is that information shared in it should only be between the people in the group.

A few considerations and opinions that might provide a different perspective. I try to evaluate how much opinion I'm putting in :D

- This is a site that [5% opinion] first and foremost allows playing board games online.
- This site has discussion capabilities, but [50% opinion] it is not its main goal and [100% opinion] it should not be
- Groups are collections of users and ease some of the activities related to participating in the site
- [50% opinion] The main goal of groups is ease creation and management of matches, e.g. by using the restriction of a table to a group only
- [100% opinion] Devs should prioritize a good gaming experience and provide ancillary services (e.g. discussions) that are good enough to ease the gaming experience
- [100% opinion] The only thing that can be demanded "NOW!" is to change the name "private group" to "closed but publicly visible group", so that users are not misled to think that conversations associated to these groups will enjoy any level of privacy.

I'm *NOT* saying that we should give up our privacy because we have nothing to hide. We *HAVE* things that we want to keep private, and rightly so.

I'm only saying that BGA is not the place where we should expect this, apart from keeping our passwords safe and avoid identity steals.

If you really need to have this kind of privacy (it's up to you to say this, of course), you should look into platforms that do this because it's their main goal.

I agree with Jen. Privacy should be complete as "private" means "only for one person or group and not for everyone". If i can see posts and discussions within a group i'm not the member of, it violates the rights of members.
