How are exactly evaluated TOPX HF ?

I am actually 8th of a game (button), breakin the top20 barriere since 2 days.
A game make me 19th, another 16th, 12th, and now 8th after winning against the 5th. But neither top20 and top10 are achieved.

Somewhere in the thread here but for reason not in the FAQ they've said that you need to reach 300 ELO points to win any of the TOPX awards.

Question about ELO awards for XP:

I recently began playing a few games I hadn't played in a while to get reranked on the ELO standings. It seems that the following is the case if I am ranked 1st in a game:

I replay the game, get the 1st ELO reward.
I don't get any of the top 2, top 3, top 5, etc awards.

If I started in 20th place and worked my way up, I would get all of these rewards.
So in this case if I wanted to get that extra XP from those awards, I'd have to lose a bunch of games to get my ELO down to top 2, top 3, top 5?

Am I misunderstanding something there?

this is how it currently works. Hoping they can implement something to fix it. Something similar to what they do for games played would work here...like when I complete my 140th (for example) game of something I get the 10, 20, 50, 100 games played awards. If I finish a game and am rank x I should get the rank x and all inferior rank x+ trophies.

That is bad. Another solution could be to just award everyone their highest award instead of all of them. But your suggestion is more consistent with how other awards work on the site.

I'm still getting the trophies for winning new (to me) games. I just got one last night (13 hours ago).

Well, we may do that. However, this case is very rare. Apart from new games, games tends to stay in their respective "categories", and for new games if your game category has changed this is highly probable than your rank has decreased.

The logic is:
_ you win an achievement after a game played, only.
_ the situation is appreciated at this exact moment.

I may looks "illogical" in some situations, but it has its own logic :)
It is more restrictive than this, in order to get the trophy your rank has to change. This does not make sense, example below.

I've completed a game in Uncle Chestnut's Table Gype since it has gone over the threshold (500 players) to go from a 3k for first place up to 6k for first place, and did not get an updated trophy (I'm in second place and have a 1500 point trophy, this should upgrade to 3000 points). You should need to only finish a game, not have your ranking change for this to be checked. As it is you would have to intentionally lose games to fall a rank and then try to regain that rank in order to achieve the trophy that you should have already earned.

It is a really nice system.
I'm waiting for a list of all achievement :). I don't think that keeping some secret would be really doable, since we can see all achievements made by the other users.

I don't really either see the points of having to do something new to unlock an achievement already made. It may have sense for some (like achieving a top1 ranking for example). But on some others (like making a first victory) not awarding them now is similar to never giving it to players. The incentive of those trophies is to push players to explore all the games available, and I have done such things. But it also mean that I have played to some games that was not great for me (or at least no as pleasant as the others) so I don't especially want to play them again in the future. It seem sad to having to play them again just to get the awards where I can discover new games (since I have to get into the rules again anyway).

On the subjects of discovering new games there was an trophie for playing a new game. You just have to complete a game. With a small reward I found it nice to reward people for that. Now there is only the first victory award and depending on the game it could be not that hard to achieve (in easy/fast/luck games) or a really long road when most users are already good and there is so many to learn to catch them up. Is there any chance that a "first game played on this game" return?

An idea for Tournaments and XP/Achievements :

What about Breaking the fact of systematically award the top3.
It's definetly not the same to play a direct elimination with 5 participants and a 220 players marathon swiss system of 20 games ... In the first exemple, only the winner deserve an achievement and some points, but in the second, a top10 is such a feat !

On the sidelines of the new system of calculation for the points, it could be a good idea to prepare a complete grid of categories, and associate it with a point scale (as they do in tennis, cycling, andd other sports, rewarding a result with points and money, depending on the category of the event).
And present on the tournament page presentation the reward could be great :)

And to finish, some ideas of achievements (For each game and/or for global) :
- Win 1, 3, 10 .... tournaments
- Win 1, 3, 10 ... tournaments of at least 10/30/100 participants
- Win 1, 3, 10 .... tournaments of 1st/2nd/3rd category
- win a tournament (of at least X players and/or Y category) on 1, 3, 10 ... different game
...
