Racist insults during a game ; chat log ?

Post by VojFromMars »

Hello.

Since my wife an I changed our flag to reflect our change of residency (France to Guadeloupe), we have had some racist issues.

During a particular game, my wife had been insulted by two players, in a way that had left some trauma to her, and a really sour taste in my mouth.

While I usually appreciate the way BGA handles missbehaviour issues, I'm really unhappy in this case, as one player had no apparent sanction and the other had a week long ban (and that even might be for completly different reasons). Those insults were in French, by French players and we also live in France, so French law applies.

As a game chat is a public place, I believe racist insults in chats are punishable by 1st July 1972 law "relative à la lutte contre le racisme" and "loi Gayssot" from 13th July 1990. An association like "SOS Racisme" can be "partie civile" in this case.

At the current moment it doesn't seem possible to get a chat log if you're not a moderator. I perfectly understand reasons behind that. I also perfectly understand that moderators are human beings and might not have had time to treat this case (it happened roughly a week ago) or might simply miss or judge differently some logs. However in this case, I'd be willing to take a court action if nothing happened.

How can I get a chat log without having to resort to such extreme actions ? What is your moderation policy regarding offenses punishable by law ? In cases of acts punishable by prison in local juridictions, I feel not reporting your moderation decision to the victims is really unfair.

As an addition to this I will add something as I was the victim here : both ganged up on me during the game for having "a skin maybe too dark" and I had to leave the game. Because this happened in french, I told the other players somthing like this "for the players who don't speak french, I just want you to know that those players are curently giving me racist insults so I will leave this game. My appologies." And immediate answer from one of the harrassing player was "I'm not racist, I love fucking black girls". I think this should be sufficient for a life time ban, as it is indeed punishable by law.

And by the way, I had to leave the game and got the punishment of bga from it, but had no way to say why I had to leave it... I'd appreciate if there was a feature "why did you quit this game?" for similar situations.

Thanks for all the good work you put on this site, and thanks for your understanding.

Hello !
Sorry about this serious issue
On BGA we strongly give penalties to bad behavior, but we NEVER hesitate to ban forever any people using hate speeches.
By your side, you have a single and best option to use : the almighty REPORT button, thatt could be found on top right of every player's account profile.
Of course we have many filters and automatic reporting, but we also have a team dedicated 24/24 and 7/7 to have these kind of issues fixed as soon as they come.
In ANY case, you must first contact us using the many tools we provide for this.
We're also working on imprroving them.
SO we strongly invite you to send a report, or at least contact us before anything else.
Regards
