before we can check the players are ready to go. Is it a bug, or is it intentional?

Re: Games start automatrically
Thank you for the information.
But I do not agree on the logic here. It does not matter if games start automatically or not, all the players need to accept to start a game. If a player is reluctant to start the game or afk, he/she will not accept the game anyway. So this automatically click does not help solve the problem at all.
And for obvious reasons others and I mentioned, this automatically thing sounds like a bad move. Do you really want a board game to be as less communicating as possible, even to a point of auto start in a MANNUL mode? I hope there is a choice. The freedom of choice. That's all we are asking.
Re: Games start automatrically
I really dislike the auto-start feature. Especially if someone declines an invite and a random person joins, the game starts in a state that the other players aren't happy with and we have to now rely on the random person being gracious enough to agree to mutually quit the game.
Re: Games start automatrically
I agree with Panterpe.
Auto starting the game does not solve the issue, but introduces others... sometimes i get in games with people i don't agree on playing with because of this. A game that isn't started, most of the times mean not all players are dedicated on playing that game ... which will result in players not reacting on time etc...
So the way it is solved now doesn't improve game quality or expirience at all, which in my opinion should always be the main criteria.
Please revise this!

There are quite a few mad people in the quoted post #2 too. I hope they will listen. This is such a bad move, I hardly see anyone up for it.

Re: Games start automatrically
I like this auto-start improvement. Before, there were many tables already filled up but don't start resulting in players getting frustrated over long wait and leaving the table. We complained about this and I'm glad BGA did something to improve the situation.
In Ultimate Werewolf, the lobby almost became unplayable because of players joining, leaving, quiting, without getting a game started. The auto-start was a big help in this.
An auto-delay of a few seconds to give the table host time to check if he want to expel the last player should fix the problem, which is a rare occurrence anyway.

Re: Games start automatrically
So you prefer to get stuck at the accepting stage then the waiting at the table stage? What's the difference? I am not sure about causal games but It is not rare occasion for hard core games.augustjologs wrote: ↑18 May 2020, 06:55 I like this auto-start improvement. Why not have a option button? Why deprive people of choice they were costumed to?

Re: Games start automatrically
Getting stuck at the accept stage? No, with the game auto-starting, we, the players waiting at the table, promptly click accept and the game gets underway. That's how it has happened with the hundreds of games, I've joined, both hard-core and casual games. The only possibility mentioned in the previous posts of getting stuck, which is most likely a bug that should be fixed, is if the table creator had to expel the very last player to join (because that player is 'undesirable' and the game autostarted before the host could expel that player). But getting an 'undesirable player', let alone be the last player to join that needed to be expelled, could be avoided by restricting the reputation level (85% reputation the highest) and the skill level (to exclude beginners, apprentice, etc.). And any other player disliked by the host probably would have been red-thumbed beforehand by the host so can't join table anyway. The host should also set the table properly before opening it to other players to join.
Honestly, I really believe the 'need' to expel the very last player because he's undesirable is not a common occurrence. The host could prevent 'undesirables' from joining by restricting the table access.
If they want an option for their game not to autostart, I think that could be put in. Also, having a brief delay before the game autostarts could also help. But auto-start has saved us players the time.
