I also agree with Link that it should warn you. Perhaps something less intrusive, like highlighting the die that would cause the wreck? In the physical game, actually laying the dice out makes the line crossing more apparent.

I don't think it is comparable. Since the rules in Chess specify that you can't make a move that would lead to an "auto-mate", it's still requires the other player to make the winning move => no confirmation dialog and I agree with that.

In the case of Rallyman GT, we are talking to a mistake that can so easily be fixed with no strategy matters.
Confirmation dialogs are a wise answer in BGA design for that kind of situation. I don't see why it should not apply in that case.

The risk of not adding a warning is to discourage beginners who will then be disgusted and won't play again. That would be a shame for a game which adaptation is gorgeous on BGA...

Game are for fun! Not being tolerant kills the fun.

For competitive play (Arena), this warning could be simply disabled using a game option.

I submitted a new report for it.

This way we can see if few people care or not...

The numbers are very small and getting eliminated near the start of a 20 minute game is super not-fun. Feels like a game of gotcha. It would not be quite so bad if the numbers were not so tiny. I will never play this again multiplayer until it is fixed i.e. I treat it as a fatal error.

I don't enjoy playing this game multiplayer for this reason. Every single time i miss one of the little numbers or exclamation mark and crash out. It's frustrating and in real life game this wouldn't happen and it would be clearer and your opponents would point it out.

I agree with the people that say this is part of the game and a warning would be detremental to that. For me, in most cases, the mistake happens because the game will autoselect a position when adding a die. Then you have to move that die to the correct spot which is easy to forget, if you place that die for the 5th time while experimenting with the trajectory. This feels like that game made the mistake, not you. In the physical game, you would probably have swapped the dice instead of removing them all and replacing them.

I think it would be better if the game did not automatically select a spot for the die. Instead, you click the die, then click the spot on the road where you want to place it. This way, if a mistake is made, it will be you who made it. Maybe this could be made a game option?

I would vote for such solution. Let user choose where to put die and 90% of such mistakes will gone.
It looks a little unfair that you cannot correct your initial die placement when rolling one by one and spot mistake in meantime.

Even in real races all the drivers know very well what gear and at what speed they have to take a curve, but if they are not very concentrated they sometimes make mistakes.
It is right.
Very True. In a real car race, drivers make split second decisions and make slight variations in how fast to take a curve. They practice, build up skills, and push limits as much as they can, and sometimes they make a subtle but fatal miscalculation or error. I love how well RallyManGT captures the characteristics of an auto race and transfers the characteristics into a board game... 1) start out on the outside of a corner and cut across through the inside of the turn. 2) Following closely behind a car in the lead, struggling to find an opportunity to pass, and then suddenly something happens: mechanical luck, a wreck, fatal error, or poor judgement, 3) a momentary but well timed lead just as you pass the finish line, 4) head into the next turn too fast without providing enough space to sufficiently break and create a spin-out. Just played a game last night where an opponent wrecked in the final moment. It appeared the wreck was going to rob them of the finish, but the wreck happened in the final moment and their wrecked car slid past the finish line in a climatic finish and wreck.

No, that is only true for the current game implementation, not for the live boardgame.

I surmise you wouldn't say IRL something like: "Ah, ah, you placed the die on a wrong spot. You lost your focus and then make your car roll! Please, replace your dice and plan your crash...". I think your mates would look at you weirdly. And nothing in the game rules enforces that. Let's be serious, that is not that would happen. If this error is ever spotted, the player would just place the dice in an adjacent field and then continue.

Then, if you assert that a web implementation must respect the live experience for this game (a main guideline here on BGA), then logically you have to introduce that tolerance accordingly.
