Are we supposed to translate strings like those? Their syntax seems to indicate they could be markup strings or something.

They're placeholders, as far as I can tell. They will eventually have strings worth translating, but not yet.

That's right, this is just a temporary key. Nothing to translate until it looks like a proper english word or sentence!
